As an absolute romance addict, I am floored and thrilled to see the massive emergence of romance-exclusive brick-and-mortar bookstores—not just nationally, but worldwide! My friend Lady Jane over at Romancing the Data keeps a close watch on this booming trend, and just this month reported that there are now over 100 romance bookstores across the globe. Unsurprisingly, most of them are right here in the U.S.!
And as an Austinite (okay, okay—I may not be from here originally, but after seven years, I think I’ve earned the right to borrow that little identifier, right?), I am beyond overjoyed that we finally have one of our very own right here in ATX!
Introducing Flutter Romance Bookstore, which made its grand debut on Valentine’s Day 2025!
Cue the signature “awwwwww…”
At the helm of this local gem is none other than best-selling romance author Laurelin Paige. (And yes, of course, I adore that we share a “Paige” connection—clearly that made us bookish besties immediately!)
Laurelin brings not only deep community savvy and indie author experience to the table, but she’s uniquely positioned to host some of the most elite signings and events you’ll find in a romance-only space. Why? Because she’s built a meaningful, genuine network of well-known authors—people who show up not just for the signings, but as trusted friends and respected colleagues in the romance writer collective.
Her events are so thoughtfully curated, and it’s been our absolute delight at Love on Demand to cover these intimate experiences. I truly cannot praise Laurelin, her amazing staff, or her ever-growing community of readers enough. Whether it’s her book club, a cozy signing, or one of the many special pop-ups at the store, there’s always something to love at Flutter.
I’m so proud—and honestly humbled—to call Laurelin not just a partner in the romance community, but a new bestie in the space.
