What began as a personal sanctuary, an escape during the realities of autism motherhood, quickly turned into something I never could have anticipated. A deep and lasting love affair with the romance community.
Over the past year, since our initial launch of Love On Demand, I’ve learned what it truly means to show up in this space. For readers, for authors, for narrators, and for everyone who calls The Romance community home.
As we’ve worked to find our own distinctive voice at Love On Demand, define our mission as a media brand showcasing and delivering this world of romance, and understand how we can best serve and elevate this community, I’ve learned a thing or two along the way…
1. This community runs on connection.
At its core, romance is about people, readers and fans finding themselves in stories, authors sharing pieces of their hearts, narrators bringing words to life. The magic goes beyond the happily-ever-afters, it lives in the real life experiences and the relationships that form around them. Showing up with authenticity and respect for that connection matters more than anything!
2. There is so much more beneath the surface.
Once you enter into this community…once you “GET IT”…you see the depth. The growth, the business, the challenges, the evolution of the industry. This space is dynamic, powerful, and still so widely underestimated and misunderstood.
3. Leading with intention matters.
As we’ve been building Love On Demand, we’ve constantly asked ourselves not just what we create, but how and why we show up. Staying true to a voice and mission that is thoughtful, positive, and rooted in authenticity, genuinely elevating this community, has been one of our most important (and ongoing) commitments.
4. We all have a choice in how we engage.
Like any community, there are moments of noise, gossip, negativity, and content designed to stir reaction. It exists. But what I’ve come to believe is that we all have a choice in how we engage and how we create and curate with intention. For so many of us, romance is a space of escape, joy, and connection, and choosing to protect and celebrate that experience, for ourselves and others, feels more important than ever.
